Reliability and Uptime
Why Choose SiteGround?
The company will tell you it’s because:
- They are Faster.
- They are Safer.
- Their Support is Better.
And it’s easy to believe them. When you visit SiteGround website, you’ll quickly sense reliability and transparency. They are easy to trust. The first time I visited their website I was surprised to see that SiteGround welcomes customer reviews on their site. That tells you immediately that they are a company that know and trust what they are offering. Until visiting SiteGround I’d never seen a hosting company that welcomes real user review on their website. And that makes it easy to trust their service.
Also they make good effort to prove the claim that they are faster, safer and offer better support. They made an extensive comparison of their service with other hosts as regards speed, security and support. And they made the results available and recommended that I share it with you. So below are the screenshots of the results.
How SiteGround Speed compares with other Hosts
How SiteGround Security compares with other Hosts
How SiteGround Support compares with other Hosts
There’s no doubt that SiteGround is one of the top web hosting companies.
I left their website and visited popular review sites to read tens of comments about SiteGround hosting services from real customers. And I can’t remember reading a review contrary to their claim of being the host with the fastest, safest and better support.
But how does SiteGround achieve this?

SiteGround Hosting Features and Hosting platforms
SiteGround have data center in three continents, North America (Chicago), Europe (Amsterdam) and Asia (Singapore).
They use worldwide data centers to deliver static files such as images, or other content while using data center closest to their customers’ readers. This really makes a great difference in your site’s speed, sometimes as much as 50-60% increase in speed.
SiteGround has highly configured servers. They boast of their servers speed and as you can see above from the comparison test, they are not exaggerating. A real user even claimed that WordPress loads quickly on SiteGround’s server compared to other hosts.
SiteGround claims that they have a unique, downtime prevention software that identifies server issues in real time and fixes them in real time without human intervention.
SiteGround uses CloudFlare CDN for faster and safer website. And offers spam free emails.
They have their own SuperCacher plugin that includes three levels of caching, Varnish, Memcached and GoogleSpeed. When enabled Google PageSpeed allows Google’s recommended best practices for site speed to be automatically applied. The plugin speeds up your site by caching static content, database query results and dynamic copies of your webpages. They constantly monitor their server and does unique account isolation. That is, should a site on their server get compromised they isolate the site so that it doesn’t affect others.
Hacker Alert is available at $1/month. What hacker alert does is it crawls your site for malware and lets you know via email if it finds suspicious activities on you site and even offer you tips on how to clean up your website.
They consistently upgrade their hardware. And offer up to date softwares.
They offer free backups. When the backup service is enabled, you can restore/download backups yourself or SiteGround offer professional assistance.

They offer geeky e-commerce features like SSL, which is useful if you plan to accept payments via credit card as it enables you to create a secure connection between your customer and your server and offers PCI compliance. A PCI compliance is for e-shop to meet safety regulations.

SiteGround Shared hosting is in three packages:
Here’s a screenshot of the full features of each of their shared hosting packages.
SiteGround Hosting Cons
Limited disk space and monthly traffic numbers across all its plans.
SiteGround seem to exaggerate a bit with what they offer. For example their unlimited traffic promotion isn’t really true since as you see above there’s limit across all their plans.
All its servers are Linux OS based. That’s not really a con since Linux hosting can serve almost every website needs.
Maximum number of files in account limit.
No monthly renewal
Account bigger than 1GB are not part of the transfer promotion. Read their terms.
SiteGround Hosting Summary
Honestly if I’d just started looking for a web hosting service and I already didn’t have a hosting company that I am pleased with its service, I very likely will give SiteGround a try for all I have noticed about them and read from real customers. With SiteGround you easily get a sense of professionalism and top class service. From real user reviews what SiteGround does really well above anything else is customer support. Almost every customer said they have fast response time with phone, chat and even support ticket. Quoting some real users “they will assist you with anything you need in record time”. They “Go out of their way to help you fix problems.” And they have online tutorials. If you’re a newbie you can always count on them to find tips on their site for setting up your website.
Their next best services are speed and security. Especially with the Hacker Alert monitoring tool.
So should you use SiteGround? Yes. IF you can afford to pay a little more for your peace of mind. They are very transparent in their dealings with their clients and partners. So what if they have a limited disk space and traffic limit? I hope you succeed online as fast as possible but 25,000/day traffic doesn’t come over night. And when you get their 100,000 traffic maximum, by then you should be able to afford to get off their shared hosting plan to a dedicated server. SiteGround is an excellent host. No wonder it’s one of my top 3 web hosting services.
